The NY Jets Shine on Defense
The New York Jets started out with a bang – fans hope that the Jets are as good as they seem. Not many people gave the Jets a chance to beat the New England Patriots (only Jets fans and the Jets team probably).
The Jets looked great during the first week of football, with a big win in Houston over the Texans. Rookie QB Matt Sanchez looked like he’s NFL ready in their first game. This was very exciting.
After winning a strong season opener in week 1 against the Texans in Houston, the Jets came back home as the underdogs against the Patriots, armed with a healthy Tom Brady. This was a huge test for NY and they came ready.
If rookie Sanchez can limit his interceptions, manage the game, and keep his completion percentage around 60%, there is no reason the Jets can’t make a serious Super Bowl run. The AFC is very strong this year so it won’t be easy.Mark Sanchez is the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw over 200 yards in his first three starts.
Mark Sanchez has shown why he was highly coveted coming from USC. Mark Sanchez has the benefit of a good running game and a solid defense many rookies are not accustomed to having.
The Jets defense looked as strong as I can ever remember it looking, and new coach Rex Ryan deserves a lot of credit for reshaping a defense that struggled through much of last season.
The Jets have a formidable running attack with Leon Washington and Thomas Jones, and WR Jerricho Cotchery is contributing.
The Jets can only beat who they play – the Jets have a fairly easy schedule despite playing the Patriots twice and the Colts. The Jets can easily compile a 11-5 or 12-4 record and make a strong playoff push.
