Night Panic Attack Prevention for Children
Children usually have their nightmares. Since they have a very imaginative mind, they usually create something out of their nightmares and they would see these things as real. The fear will slowly devour them and they would scream every night as if the nightmare is real. This is a typical reaction of a child but it is not suppose to be this way. In fact if it is not handled immediately, panic attacks will hunt the child every night.
The fear of a child accelerates due to the additional darkness and aloneness. After the child has a nightmare, he would realize that he is surrounded by darkness. He will feel alone and hopeless. At this point, everything would accumulate and the child would feel hyperventilated and thus panic attack occurs.
If the child is still too vulnerable to nightmares, it is wise that the child shouldn’t sleep alone. If possible, let the child decides if he really wanted his own room. And if the darkness can trick the brain of a child that there is insufficient air, turn the lights on. This way the child feels safer and more secured.
Also, food consumption of a child might affect the way his brain function. Consuming insufficient amount of nutrients and eating the wrong foods might disrupt the functioning of his mind. So, let the child eat healthy and nutritious foods. And before he sleeps, don’t give him something heavy for the stomach to digest.
Furthermore, we shouldn’t contribute to our children’s anxiety. It is never a good idea to threaten the children with monster in the closet and under the bed.
If your child sleeping habit is already affected, it is highly recommended that you let someone check him out. Otherwise, panic attack will hunt your child until he gets old. He won’t get over it and his fear will control his life forever unless treated.
