People of all ages experience panic attacks for a variety of reasons, but since these attacks can happen out-of-the-blue, some people can be at risk for accidents and injury. If you suffer from panic attacks and drive regularly, you could be putting yourself and your passengers at risk each time you hit the road. Common symptoms of an oncoming panic attack include rapid heartbeat, sweaty palms and dizziness, so becoming self-aware is an important step towards avoiding an accident. If you are at risk for having a panic attack, here are some important tips for handling panic attacks while driving:

1. Pull over. If it’s possible, pull off to the side of the road or take the next exit so you can get your bearings. Having a panic attack while driving can make you feel overwhelmed and disoriented, so you may need to take a break, stretch your legs and regain perspective. Don’t force yourself to push on through because you could be putting yourself at risk for an accident.

2. Listen to calming tunes. Some calming music can naturally decrease your anxiety and can help in delaying the attack until its possible to pull over. Soothing music can calm your nerves and can relieve your anxiety.

3. Open your car’s windows. Breathing in some oxygen will help you feel more comfortable and the feeling of being enclosed can disappear if you open your windows. Oxygen and deep breathing is critical for mental focus and lowering stress levels.

4. Pull over and call someone. If you need someone to talk to, don’t make the mistake of trying to call while maneuvering the car. Pull over, take a few deep breathes, and call someone you can trust to let them know what you are experiencing. Sometimes telling someone what is going on can help you work through it and may even lower your risk of a panic attack.

5. Saying Affirmations. Saying affirmations such as “everything is under control” can help relieve your nerves. You can either say these affirmations out loud or write them on post-its and place them on your dashboard. It would take some time to develop this habit, but you can be sure to benefit greatly from it.

6. Have someone accompany you when you drive. If you already know that there’s a high percentage of you having a panic attack while driving, then it would be wise to have someone drive with you. You can always ask your trusted companion to take the wheel if ever you feel you can’t drive anymore.

7. Bring some healthy snacks. Driving for long periods can cause dehydration and hunger which further aggravates panic attacks. Always bring some healthy snacks to provide your body with the energy it needs to stay focus.

Millions of people suffer from panic disorders that can occur when in public or just travelling away from home. Now there is a non-pharmaceutical anxiety treatment that can help you to free yourself from the unsettling thoughts that may lead to panic attacks.

Children usually have their nightmares. Since they have a very imaginative mind, they usually create something out of their nightmares and they would see these things as real. The fear will slowly devour them and they would scream every night as if the nightmare is real. This is a typical reaction of a child but it is not suppose to be this way. In fact if it is not handled immediately, panic attacks will hunt the child every night.

The fear of a child accelerates due to the additional darkness and aloneness. After the child has a nightmare, he would realize that he is surrounded by darkness. He will feel alone and hopeless. At this point, everything would accumulate and the child would feel hyperventilated and thus panic attack occurs.

If the child is still too vulnerable to nightmares, it is wise that the child shouldn’t sleep alone. If possible, let the child decides if he really wanted his own room. And if the darkness can trick the brain of a child that there is insufficient air, turn the lights on. This way the child feels safer and more secured.

Also, food consumption of a child might affect the way his brain function. Consuming insufficient amount of nutrients and eating the wrong foods might disrupt the functioning of his mind. So, let the child eat healthy and nutritious foods. And before he sleeps, don’t give him something heavy for the stomach to digest.

Furthermore, we shouldn’t contribute to our children’s anxiety. It is never a good idea to threaten the children with monster in the closet and under the bed.

If your child sleeping habit is already affected, it is highly recommended that you let someone check him out. Otherwise, panic attack will hunt your child until he gets old. He won’t get over it and his fear will control his life forever unless treated.

Have you tried experiencing things that you don’t want to feel again? For example, feeling your heart beat so fast, or feeling such intense fear that you can’t seem to get rid of? Have you ever felt so nervous that hundreds and even thousands of butterflies are in your stomach? Your nervousness prevented you from doing something that you have to do.

People who have experienced these symptoms have anxiety attacks. These are just physical symptoms of anxiety attacks. There are also other symptoms like tightening of the chest, rapid heartbeat, palpitation, and even mental symptoms like being too negative. Or even thinking that your world is ending and that you are about to die.

Who is not afraid of dying? Though you didn’t really die during the attack but would you want to feel like dying again? Of course not, so how do you stop anxiety attacks. Well, read on below some of the natural treatments of anxiety attacks that you may want to consider.

Some people would spend hundreds and even thousands of money paying for psychologists or drugs or treatments to help keep the anxiety away. But does it really work? Are you not experiencing anxiety attacks anymore? If not, then you should know that there is a cheaper and more natural treatment for panic disorder.

Drug manufacturers would like you to believe that you won’t be able to cure panic disorder. So they sell you medicine to help you cope with anxiety but make you a zombie to the outside world. But you should know that panic attacks may just be due to your busy lifestyle and poor eating habits.

Poor adrenal health may also have an effect on your body like causing anxiety attack. This is because anxieties are due to adrenal fatigue or overload. Thus, if you want to rid yourself of anxieties you need to improve your adrenal health as this is responsible for dealing mental or physical stress.

There are also supplements that will help or improve adrenal health. These supplements contain vitamin C, vitamin # mixed tocopherols, vitamin B100 complex, pantothenic acid, magnesium citrate, liquid trace mineral and adrenal glandular. You can also herbs like winter cherry and Siberian ginseng to help improve your adrenal health.

An herb that will help improve adrenal health is winter cherry. This is because of the sedative effect of this herb to the body. This also helps rebuild your digestive and nervous system and even helps you relax and fall asleep when you feel troubled during nighttime. Another herb that you may want to look into is Siberian ginseng which can help stimulate and nourish the adrenal glands, as well as increase mental alertness.

Lastly, you need to start loving yourself more. Vitamins, minerals and herbs are no good if you have very low self-esteem. Some anxiety attacks are actually caused by the fear of being judged harshly by other people. So you need to start thinking positively about yourself and couple that with vitamins and minerals, then you are on your way of becoming free from anxiety attacks.

Today the world has all sorts of stress triggers for the normal woman and man. Financial, work, and family situations abundantly happen to create stress on the body as well as the mind. This pressure can be overwhelming and lead to anxiety and possible to panic attacks.

Lessening the stresses in our lives is the main thing we need to do, so that the anxiety and panic attacks won’t happen. Taking on too many responsibilities can cause possibly disastrous results. Panic attack could be brought on.

Our hearts can only handle so much stress too. Stress can affect the heart seriously. This anxiety that can happen from this can give cause one’s blood pressure to go up, poor eating habits, and eventually lead to panic attacks. Heart disease could follow this and make a heart attack occur. Not being able to sleep is another one of the symptom for anxiety. Too little sleep can bring on serious conditions to one’s health.

Anxiety can turn into panic attacks. This condition involves having severe fear over the feeling that something bad is going to happen. This could cause physical symptoms. Shaking, sweating, nausea, shivering, a severe feeling of wanting to flee, and dizziness are among the symptoms. The response of wanting to fight or flee is usually exaggerated with not apparent cause.

One very simple and conscientious exercise you can do when a panic attack begins is breathing. Begin by drawing air into your lungs slowly through your nose, hold it a second or two, and release it slowly out of your mouth. Repeat this several times, with your eyes closed. Try to relax your shoulders and arms. Remind yourself that this panic attack will not last long and there is nothing bad happening.

You may do exercises that relax you at home. There is music available for purchase at music stores or for download online. This music is usually very soft and organic and sometimes has a person speaking in a soft and reassuring voice guiding you through a mental and physical relaxation technique. When a panic attack ensues, you can use this as a tool to bring it under control.

Talking to someone may also help. If you know a person is there for you, call them or visit. Talking things out with an understanding friend can do wonders to relieve stress and anxiety that has built up over time.

It is also important to practice positive thinking. When you wake each day assure yourself that you can handle any stress that comes your way that day. Starting the day off with a positive attitude can strengthen you against what problems you may encounter today. Panic attacks don’t always have a unknown cause they can stem from depressed thinking patterns which can bring on failure.

Getting some counseling is an effective method of relief, an without taking medications. Many services are offered by professionals to help you manage panic and anxiety disorders. Cognitive therapy has helped many people during the many years it has been around. This kind of therapy makes the panic attack sufferer realize their surroundings and own behavior patterns can create the stress and the anxiety they are feeling. Hopefully through this therapy they can start managing their stress by altering their behavioral patterns and lifestyle.

Do not suffer with panic attacks anymore. Many treatments and techniques exist to help one through anxiety and any panic attacks, and no medication is needed.

Eric J Thomas has been helping people control their anxiety and prevent panic attacks for over 15 years. If you are interested in learning more about his techniques for Panic Attacks Relief and prevention, contact him today.

You might notice that panic attacks only attack the psychological aspect of your life. Your physical well being is not affected. The real threat about panic attacks occurs because it attacks at random even in public places that you are least expected. Panic attacks can be devastating and it burst like a bubble. Once it reached its maximum level, it will just disappear without medical help.

Panic attacks happen in a short while. However, in that short of time, you will feel that the world moves so slowly and the time ticks at a snail’s pace. You will experience how it is like to die and suffocate. You will feel that your heart is slowly giving up on you. In addition, you would think that you are near to paranoia. As a result, you will have a constant fear of panic attack.

Though panic attacks occur only for a few minutes or so, they should still be treated and given much attention. Otherwise, the life of a person is affected greatly. And if panic attacks occur repeatedly, then the sufferer needs attention from mental health professional. Panic attacks may indicate panic disorder, and depression.

The good news is panic attacks can be treatment at home. However, the symptoms of panic attacks are often similar to symptoms of serious illnesses such as heart attack and asthma. Hence, everyone should be careful not to mistake panic attack from serious illnesses.

Treating panic attack without medical help requires that you have no signs of serious health diseases. If you are given a healthy body, then you can use self-cure for panic attack. There are simple steps to do this. The first and most vital step is to relax your body. This includes relaxation of the mind and body.

Next, reassure yourself that you are okay and you can do this. You can also distract yourself so that the fear inside you won’t accumulate. While reassuring yourself, do deep breathing and gently release your breath through your mouth. If you can’t do it, think that you are blowing a candle light. To feel your breathing, place a hand on your stomach.

Finally, remind yourself that breathing is easy. If you can still talk, then this implies that you are still breathing naturally. Bear in mind that panic attack is a psychological effect and you can conquer it. And remember that you need medical help for serious illnesses.

The difficult part about panic attacks is that they can occur when you least expect them. You will not be prepared to deal with them when they occur.

The difficult part about panic attacks is that they can occur when you least expect them. You will not be prepared to deal with them when they occur.

You are having fun with your friends, or running an errand. Suddenly panic attack strikes without warning.

Such things will create an impact on you and leave you fearful of engaging in the activity where panic attack happened.

However, in most cases, that particular activity or place had little to do with the attack.

You don’t need to avoid those places or situations where you fear you might face another attack. You can go on living a normal life.

If you live as usual and don’t let panic attacks hamper your life in any way, soon they will lose their power and will stop troubling you.

Initially, it would be difficult to deal with this problem courageously. So, don’t try anything big in order to deal with this problem.

Take small mini-steps in order to tackle and overcome panic attacks. If you are afraid of going shopping, then don’t go alone. Take a friend with you who is fully aware of your problem.

If you are taking any pills for this problem, keep them handy with you. This way, you will feel a little more comfortable to go to those places which you presently dread.

Don’t try to go alone. Don’t try to become too brave all of a sudden, as it might backfire. But start taking little courageous steps about which you feel comfortable to a certain extent.

Keep reminding yourself in normal circumstances that panic attacks are not dangerous – they only feel so. You feel like dying or having a heart attack, but you are not actually having it.

I haven’t come across reports of people dying from panic attacks. So, it is safe to assume that they are not dangerous. We only perceive them to be.

You will feel a little safer in this knowledge. You will now know that even if another attack happens, it will soon end up and you probably won’t be hurt in the process.

Likewise, take baby steps in the positive direction which help in raising your courage. Everyday, try to move in the positive direction in order to overcome panic attacks.

If you keep taking small steps, you may find, that you have stopped fearing panic attacks. They will then fade away on their own.

Keep in mind, to avoid taking pills as much as possible. Take them when absolutely necessary and only after consultation with the doctor.

It is better to opt for natural treatments or behavior therapy in order to overcome panic attacks. These kinds of treatment are better in the long run as pills can cause health problems.

Most people know that panic attacks generally occur during the daytime hours. But panic attacks actual occur at night as well. There is hope through treatments geared toward panic attacks in the overnight hours. How can you have a panic attack at night?

People can wake up in the middle of the night or in the morning with panic attack symptoms. Even without reason people cam wake up in the middle of a panic attack. They may have chest pains, feel dizzy or be lightheaded. A fast heartbeat and restricted breathing is also common. Waking up during a panic attack is its own special nightmare and sufferers can feel like they are losing control, or even dying. It is a very terrifying experience to wake up like this.

What Causes Nighttime Panic Attacks

What do you do to stop nighttime panic attacks? Actually, it isn’t that much different than treating them when a person is awake and having panic attacks. The problem with overnight panic attacks is that a person cannot easily identify the stressor that is causing the problem as they can during the daytime hours. Nighttime attacks are often brought on by things that are causing sufferers stress in the daytime like a loss in the family, injuries and accidents as well as problems at work. Whether the panic attack happens at night to during the day the best thing to do is remain calm.

Preventing Nighttime Panic Attacks – Three of the Best Treatments for Nighttime Attacks

Treatment 1 – Self Massages

Giving yourself a massage is actually a great treatment for night time panic attacks. It is also a good idea to have a massage first thing in the morning. When a person has a massage, their body becomes further relaxed, which allows them to handle stress that creeps up into their sleep whether it’s through dreams or their subconscious.

Treatment 2 – Relaxation Techniques

Learning relaxation techniques that involve breathing deeply can also help people suffering from night time panic attacks. Breathing correctly involves using your diaphragm rather than one’s chest, and relaxation techniques teach you how to do this. Air is breathed in deeply and breathed out the same when breathing properly. By doing this correctly you focus more on your breathing then on your rising panic and it helps you calm down. The treatment, when done right and before you go to bed, helps you stay calm during the night.

Treatment 3 – Meditation and/or Prayer

The third way to treat panic attacks at night is to meditate before going to sleep. Why does this help? This makes you more relaxed and also puts you in a positive frame of mind before getting into the bed.

Before commencing on panic attack treatment, you have to really make sure whether you are actually having panic disorder or not. Only a licensed therapist or a extremely qualified doctor would be able to authenticate this.

So see, most of the panic attack symptoms are similar to those of other health ailments. So you cannot be 100% sure by yourself that it is indeed panic attack. There isn’t any particular symptom which only belongs to panic attack sufferers and none others.

As an example – a racy heart and extreme sweating may take place in a panic attack, but so can they occur during heart related ailments too. So you cannot be 100% sure that a patient is truly suffering from panic attack disorder and not some other ailment.

So a health practitioner will, after detailed medical examination as well as checking your history of health problems, will arrive at a conclusion. Once it is firmly established that it is indeed panic disorder, then you can proceed with necessary treatment.

There are different approaches to treating panic attacks. Most people would resort to quick fix solutions like taking medication for panic. But it is best to stay away from such medicines as they can cause a lot of harmful effects in the long term. One of the major problems of these drugs is that people are likely to get addicted to them. So you will be treating panic attacks, but getting involved in a new addiction problem.

For this reason, many people are not very enthusiastic in taking medication for panic attacks. Thankfully, there are a number of alternative methods that can also nicely take care of this problem.

Aromatherapy is a very simple, natural form of treatment which can be pretty effective for panic attacks. You will be given some essential oils which you have to mix with water and take a bath with it, or massage it to your body. These essential oils will be those that will help in reducing anxiety levels and promoting calmness in individuals. Sometimes, you will be asked to inhale the fumes of these oils which will help in directly stimulating the brain and induce feelings of calmness.

Another good alternative treatment is acupuncture. It is a very old Chinese treatment method in which needles are pierced at different points in the human body to treat various ailments. Our body has numerous pressure points which once activated with the help of needles can help in reducing anxiety and promoting calmness in individuals.

Drinking herbal teas or taking herbal based medicine is another alternative way of treating your disorder. Herbal teas and medicine usually do not carry any harmful side effects and hence many people feel safe in taking them for curing different ailments.

The above mentioned natural methods of treatment will help you in overcoming panic attacks without the need for medication. These methods are also not very expensive and hence a lot of people can try them out. That is one of the reasons why alternative therapies are gaining huge popularity throughout the world.

Most often, people suffering from anxiety believe they only have a character flaw, not a mental disorder.

For anxiety sufferers, the labels of moody and paranoid are often attached to them. Stressful situations become difficult to deal with and they are seen as blowing things out of proportion.

Psychological Symptoms

Anxiety is defined as having overwhelming thoughts of fear and worries that continue for six months or longer. There are many other symptoms connected with anxiety disorders and these often vary from person to person depending on the type and severity of the disorder.

Someone with anxiety is usually short tempered, impatient and irritable. In addition, the sufferer may also be restless, have trouble concentrating or have the inability to complete tasks and goals. Furthermore, they may experience forgetfulness, become easily confused and be absent minded. The inability to express thoughts coherently as well as complaints of their minds going blank are additional symptoms.

Anxiety puts the body in a hyper sense of alertness. The anxious person is constantly on the lookout for danger and tends to anticipate the worst. Others around them will find the person to be pessimistic or a wet blanket.

Some people with anxiety may also experience agoraphobia, or fear of public spaces. This is especially the case of people with obsessive-compulsive disorders, although other anxiety disorder sufferers are prone to this problem as well, though likely to a lesser degree.

If the anxiety disorder is severe, he person may experience depression and hallucinations. In these cases, thoughts of suicide are often present.

Excessive thoughts of worry, fear, irrationality and negative feelings are persistent in those suffering from anxiety.

Physical Symptoms

Anxiety is a psychological condition, but it can be physically taxing on the body. It has a tendency to manifest itself into several symptoms that can further affect a persons day to day functioning.

Physical symptoms include rapid heartbeat, dizziness, headaches and high blood pressure. In addition, sufferers may experience the inability to inhale a deep breath often leading to frequent spells of hyperventilation. The body can also suffer fatigue, insomnia and hyperactivity.

Since a person with anxiety has excess adrenaline, the body can experience muscle tension and body aches/ In addition, the excess adrenaline also accounts for the alteration in moods.

And when the mind spends so much time in a state of worry, other bodily functions are compromised. This leads to a loss of appetite or nausea, diarrhea, or frequent urination, and constantly being thirsty. Many anxiety sufferers even complain about a reduced sex drive.

Other Anxiety Symptoms

Everyones symptoms are not the same. Some anxiety sufferers experience symptoms that are the exact opposite of the ones mentioned earlier. These symptoms are often brought to fruition by extreme levels of anxiety such as someone suffering from SAD finding themselves in the middle of a group of strangers.

One of these symptoms is low blood pressure (levels below 90/60) and this can reduce the amount of oxygen and nutrients that reach the brain.

Another symptom reported during high levels of anxiety is a heightened degree of sex drive.

Still others with chronic anxiety report having food cravings. Often the craving is for sugar, and this may be due to the fact that blood pressure is at times chronically low in cases of severe anxiety

Many people want a natural treatment for panic episode Problems. For many years, drugs and support have been the sole panic attack cure available for sufferers. But now there are a spread of remedies available right from your own residence. After discussing risk factors, causes, and diagnosis with a medical professional, you can consider working some of these natural methods into your life.

Reduce Life Stress

One important way to cut back the frequency of panic attacks is to reduce the level of anxiety or tension in your daily activities. Lowering the amount of stress in your life is an easy most important step to reducing the quantity of panic attacks. Spend more time doing the things you like to do and less time doing the things that you don’t like doing. Naturally we all still need to go to work, but after a very long day of work, spend your evenings doing what makes you chuffed. Shortly your day of work will be stuffed with anticipation over your evenings instead of uneasiness over work.

Relaxation techniques can also be a great way to reduce your levels of stress and may even ward off a pending panic fit. Continually test your relaxation abilities to help build your skills in this area. Doing your relaxation exercises on a daily and consistent basis will reduce your overall stress level. Carve out a specific time of day that is just for you. It will shortly become a time that you anticipate every day.

Exercise is a great stress reliever for your body. Sensible exercise will get your heart rate up and your endorphins moving. Your body will be able to dispose of toxins faster and relax simpler when you stick to a routine exercise program. You don’t need to run a marathon, just try and get your heart rate up at least three times per week for thirty mins or more.

Support

Though many people are concerned about seeking help from a support group, they can frequently be the best help for a uneasiness disorder like panic episodes. Having the ability to talk with others who are going through similar things can be very useful. The Anxiety anomalies organisation of America ( ADAA ) has conferences in hundreds of cities across the country.

Diet

Drinking plenty of water will help flush toxins out of your body and eating sensible foods will keep your body operating at its best. Avoid high sugar and fat foods, as they will cause an increase of toxins in your body. Eating a controlled diet has usually been a recommendation for people afflicted by stress disorders, but it is normally a brilliant idea for everyone!

Incorporating natural treatments into your panic fit treatment is easy and can be done steadily. Simply pick one thing and start doing it slowly. If you start incorporating exercise into your life and are able to keep it up, then add eating a balanced diet to your scheme. Slowly try and incorporate all 5 natural treatments and you will quickly be on the way to a more moderen healthier you!

Just stick to the above four steps and you will have good results, but if want to get a detailed step by step action plan on how to cure panic attacks , go here.
